About Motion Massage & Mobility
A practical, athlete-informed approach to sports massage and mobility in Bristol.
The approach
Every session starts with what is actually getting in your way: training load, movement habits, a specific ache, or simply the need to feel more at home in your body.
The work combines hands-on sports massage with mobility-led thinking, so you leave with a clearer sense of what is happening and what to do next.
About the therapist
I’m Marc, a Level 5 Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist and Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) Mobility Specialist based in Bristol. I run Motion Massage and Mobility from Boys to Men barbershop in Bedminster, with a focus on helping people feel better, move better and get more from their bodies.
My journey into sports massage came through my own experience of sport and performance. I was a competitive swimmer, swimming for City of Bristol Aquatics before going on to coach within the club. I first qualified in sports massage back in 2008 and went on to spend more than a decade developing and coaching athletes at every level, from county and regional swimmers to national and European junior qualifiers.
I’ve also had the opportunity to work with and lead an international Swim England junior team. Working closely with athletes at that level gave me a real understanding of the demands of training and competition, as well as the importance of movement quality, recovery and staying physically prepared to perform.
That experience has shaped how I approach sports massage today. For me, it’s not simply about treating a tight muscle or chasing where something hurts. It’s about understanding how you move, what your body is being asked to do and how we can help you keep performing at your best.
Whether you’re an athlete looking to improve recovery and stay ready for your next session, someone working towards a personal training goal, or simply want to move more freely and get more out of your body, I enjoy helping people find that extra bit of capacity.
I completed my Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) training in 2021, followed by my Level 5 Sports Massage qualification in 2025. This has given me an even more detailed, movement focused approach to my work, allowing me to look at mobility, movement and physical performance alongside hands on treatment.
I’m also very much a practitioner who practices what he preaches. I still swim and train regularly, and you'll find me running, cycling, lifting weights or bouldering. I’m also a big fan of skiing and live music. Staying active means I understand first hand how important it is to have a body that can keep up with the things you want to do.
That’s what Motion Massage is really about. Helping you build a body that is capable, resilient and ready to perform, whether your goal is competing at a high level, getting stronger in the gym, improving your running, or simply being able to enjoy the activities you love.
For me, the most rewarding part of the job is seeing someone move better, perform better and leave feeling more confident in what their body can do.
